BURY Thai boxer Lewis Bentley has claimed his third British Muay Thai title.

The 11-year-old, who trains at GFC Muay Thai Boxing Gym in Cobden Street, beat Saxon Nugent, of Assassins Gym in Melton Mowbray, in a very hard, competitive fight in the 33-34kgs division.

The fight was at the Super Sandee Muay Thai Boxing Championships in the Metrodome, Barnsley, on Saturday, July 16.

It was a great night for GFC, with all four of their fighters competing on the bill winning their bouts on points over five rounds, successfully defending their number one UK rankings against quality opposition.

Lewis George, 11, also claimed a British title in the 32kgs weight category, beating Billy Hammond, from the Assassins Gym, showing excellent scoring technique, while Louis O’Neil, 13, and 17-year-old Kyle Schofield also won.

Each of the four young fighters successfully defended their number one UK rankings against quality opposition, winning on points over five rounds.

Lewis Bentley's dad, Graham, said: "Overall, it was an explosive, action-packed day and a really fantastic team effort from GFC.

"The chief instructor, Darren Phillips, along with Maxine Phillips and Haiden Wheeldon did an amazing job cornering for the lads, providing them with the strategies needed to secure a victory and maintain the gym’s unbeaten run.

"GFC has a well-deserved reputation as one of the finest Muay Thai Boxing gyms in the country."
