BURY Hockey Club's ladies' first team maintained the pressure at the top of Division Two in the Greater Manchester League after coming from behind to win 4-1 at home to City of Manchester.
They remain in second place, just a point behind leaders Prescot seconds with a game in hand.
Two goals from Jo Miller and a strike a piece from Poppy Barber and Angela Shore sealed the points at the weekend.
The ladies seconds, who are second bottom, almost did the firsts a favour before going down 1-0 at home to Prescot, whose first-half goal from a short corner proved just enough to preserve their place at the top.
James Oakes's 200th club goal for the club was scant consolation for the men's first team, who crashed to a 4-1 defeat at home to Kendal.
They were already 3-0 down, midway through the second half, when some good right-wing play produced a sharp chance for Oakes, who managed to convert at the near post.
However, a mistake in midfield soon presented the ball to Kendal and a swift counter attacking goal sealed the result to leave Bury eighth in Division Three North of the North West League.
