RADCLIFFE Borough produced a scintillating performance to dismantle Hyde United 4-0 at Taurus Park, putting Matty Johnson's horror injury behind them.

Saturday's match at home to Colne had to be abandoned midway through the first half after on-loan Everton stopper Johnson suffered a broken leg.

Play was held up for an hour as they waited for an ambulance and the ??-year-old goalkeeper later underwent a successful operation at North Manchester General Hospital.

There were fears the Boro players would struggle to refocus following their team-mate's distressing injury.

But after Huddersfield youth keeper Tadhg Ryan was drafted in in place of Johnson, Boro put in one of their most impressive displays of the season.

Elliot Rokka showed their intent when he shot narrowly over in the opening minute.

It was not long before Radcliffe did take the lead through Abou Sanogo, the striker tapping in from close range in the 14th minute after getting on the end of a driven Rokka cross.

Raul Correia doubled lead seven minutes later, producing an excellent right-foot finish at the end of an exhilarating counter-attack from winger Frank Van Gils.

It was very nearly three on the half hour mark as Van Gils struck the post with a low driven effort of his own as Hyde struggled to deal with the movement of the front three.

Correia got his second of the game 10 minutes into the second half as Rokka again broke free of his marker on the wing and his whipped cross landed at the feet of the striker, who converted from four yards.

Substitute Conor Ready rounded off the scoring in the 64th minute when he was first to react following a stinging effort from Rokka, which Saunders could only palm into the path of the midfielder.

Ryan had little to do for the majority of his debut but did show what he was capable of with a fine fingertip save to deny Hyde substitute Ayrton Bevins from grabbing a consolation just a minute later.
