BURY hockey player Katherine Somerville helped England into the quarter-finals of the Under-21s World Cup.
The goalkeeper played in all three group games as England finished second in Pool C.
She kept a clean sheet in a 1-0 win against hosts Chile in the opening game.
England were then pegged back in their next two matches, drawing 1-1 despite taking the lead against eventual group winners Australia then blowing a 3-1 advantage against South Africa to finish 3-3.
However, they showed great spirit and resilience to hold off a late fightback to claim a point against the Springboks, which sealed their passage into the last eight.
England were eventually knocked out in the quarter-finals on Wednesday, losing 5-3 against Spain.
