YWCA Bury pushed North West Premier League leaders Warrington all the way before conceding a winning basket in the final few seconds.

The match was level at 41-41 as the home side, who lost the reverse fixture at Warrington by just two points, went on the attack in the final minute.

But Bury lost possession of the ball as they searched for an opening and the visitors took full advantage.

The home side had a dream first quarter, taking it 14-9 with a brilliant shooting display from Imogen Turner and Millie Roscoe, aided by plenty of key turnovers in the defensive circle from Elia McCormick and Chloe Addis.

There was also a with a fantastic centre-court display from Lois Pearson, Dani Bloomfield and Jenny Cross.

No changes were made for the second quarter, but Warrington fought back as Bury tired, cutting their lead to 24-22 by half time.

Megan Burns, Nell Clerkin and Tyrene Karim joined the game in the third quarter as the visitors continued their fight back to take a 34-33 lead.

Cross and Bloomfield returned to the centre court for the closing stages as the match turned into a real battle, with players rolling on the floor fighting for the ball.

Both teams showed equal determination to claim victory. There were errors made at vital times by both teams and some tough refereeing decisions, that could have gone either way, had a real bearing on the eventual outcome.

Nevertheless, the match was all square as the game went into the final 30 seconds before Warrington made a game-clinching turnover and finished it off with a clinical basket.
