BURY Croquet Club were crowned overall champions at the North West Festival of Croquet in Southport.

A team of 14 Bury players took on clubs from across the region in four different croquet disciplines over a weekend of competition.

They won the "Golf" discipline, were second in the "Short Lawn Association" and third in the more challenging "Full Lawn Association".

But when the aggregate scores were added up, Bury proved to be the most consistent team and emerged as festival champions.

Bury Croquet Club has two facilities, on Whitehead Park in Bury and Coronation Park in Radcliffe.
