TEEN gymnast Jack Chamberlain scooped three golds and a silver competing for Great Britain at the Cottbus International in Germany.

The Bury Gymnastics Club member, who has just returned from a long spell out with a wrist injury, bounced back after a below-par display in the all-round competition to excel in the under-18s individual finals.

Chamberlain, aged 16, won gold on the rings and for his floor routine and finished runner-up in the vault.

He also helped Britain to victory in the team event alongside Euan Cox, Raekwon Baptiste, Victor Yeo, Jack Stanley and Reuben Ward.

Their total of 426.400 edged out hosts Germany (425.150) into second place and Latvia (399.050) into third.

The Bury College student was highlighted by British Gymnastics as one to watch and has been tipped for a potential place in a future Olympic squad, although the 2020 Tokyo Games could come a little too soon for his development.

It is hoped Chamberlain will continue his recovery from injury to claim a place in the British squad for next year's Junior European Championships in Glasgow, when he would be able to test himself against the best in the continent.

After taking up the sport at the age of four he has gone on to represent Team GB at competitions in Italy and Hungary, as well as Germany, and competed for England at the 2016 UK school games.

The Bury gymnast led the rankings on the final day of the School Games but slipped on the pommel horse in the final discipline, ending his bid for top spot.
