BURY boxer Scott Quigg continued his bid to regain a world title with a convincing victory tonight.
The 29-year-old beat Oleg Yefimovych in six rounds in their WBA featherweight title eliminator in Monte Carlo.
The local hero became the first fighter ever to stop the Ukranian. And he did so in style with a show of power.
Quigg, who held the WBA super-bantamweight title until he lost to Carl Frampton – his only loss in his career – is closing in on a mega fight to reclaim a world title.
He has his sights on Frampton at some stage and could now be in line to face the winner of Leo Santa Cruz and Abner Mares should their rematch take place.
After an even start Quigg took over and had Yefimovych stumbling in the third round and piled on the punishment in the fourth as he showed he is a man still to be feared in this weight.
He said: "Early on, I was a bit reckless. You cannot do that at a higher level.
"When I started relaxing, going through the gears, I felt miles better.
"From about round four onwards, I don't think he wanted to know."
