TOTTINGTON D visited Huntley A in the A Section of the Bury Snooker League looking to stay at the top while Huntley hoped to stay out of the bottom two.
Sean Swimby got Tottington off to a great start, compiling a break of 29 in his frame win (91-34).
Huntley responded through Darren McHugh taking the second frame (70-31) with a 31 break.
Tottington’s Toby Barlow continued last week's fine form to take the third frame (88-14) but Huntley again bounced back in frame four with Ralph Claxton winning (83-35).
In the final frame the match came down to the colours and while Paul Anderson took it, Tottington took the aggregate for a 6-3 win.
Buchanan’s were looking for their first win in seven as they hosted second-placed Central A.
The match had moments of quality from both sides with three good clearances and while the frames were shared, Central A edged the match 6-3 thanks to Tony Moore taking his frame (66-34) with a break of 29.
Fishpool were looking to bounce back after a couple of defeats as they went to Walmersley B.
Once again the frames were shared but Fishpool’s Ashley Spencer continued his fine individual form with a break of 35 in his frame (77-44) as Fishpool took the aggregate for a 6-3 win.
Elton Lib D were looking to stay in touch with the leaders while opponents Salisbury B are looking for a top-three finish.
Elton got off to the stronger start, taking two of the first three frames, but Salisbury finished stronger with fine wins for Adam Fielding in frame four (69-22) and Damien Tracey in the last (61-33) to take a 6-2 win.
Central E had a comfortable win at home to Salisbury A with big wins for Tony Green (77-29) and Paul Bennett in the last (85-14). Salisbury took two wins, including one for Errol Rose (71-16), but the victory was Central’s by 6-2.
Central D are in danger of letting their lead slip in the B Section.
They led by 15 points after eight weeks but now in week 12 that has been cut to three after suffering a fourth defeat in a row at the hands of Central C.
The C team took five of the six frames with big wins for Alan Norris and Mark Hughes.
Carl Greaves took the D team's solitary frame, but it was a good one winning 100-39.
However, Central C took the match 8-1 to move within six points of the leaders.
Second played third as Central B hosted Whitefield BC and the home side got off the to a good start with Liam Franklin continuing to shine in winning the opener 92-53, including a break of 35.
Dave Owen responded well for Whitefield taking the second frame 98-21 and his side went on to take the match by the scruff of the neck in frames four and five and run out 6-3 winners to move three points off the top.
Stanley ended a run of three defeats with a fine 7-1 win at home to Walmersley A with good wins in the first two frames for Dennis Lomas (66-26) and Mark Patton (77-47).
Elton Lib A enjoyed an away day at St Mary’s A with an 8-1 triumph, with good wins across the board – particularly for Ray Brooks, Ben Baker and Carl Naisbitt.
In the C Section, the top two opened a significant gap between the rest.
Second played third as Seedfield hosted Central F and Central took the first four frames, with Paul Heywood taking the fourth 77-44.
Seedfield showed spirit to take the last two frames but it was Central who secured an excellent 7-2 win.
Leaders Walshaw A had a tough match against Salisbury C.
All the frames were closely contested with Walshaw holding a 26-point aggregate lead going into the final frame. Walshaw’s Darren Gilmore played well to take the final frame and the match 7-2 and they remain one point clear at the top.
St Mary’s moved into third after edging out Bury Bridge 6-3.
Tottington B hosted Huntley B and Mick Middleton got Tottington off to a good start taking the opener 80-35.
Peter Lomax consolidated Tottington’s advantage in frame four, winning 73-26 as Tottington went on to triumph 5-3.
