RADCLIFFE AC had a great turnout of 21 runners in the Coiners Fell Race at Mytholmroyd, in West Yorkshire.

The May Bank Holiday race was the second in the Run The Moors Grand Prix the club takes part in along with other local clubs and there were points to be fought for over 6.7 miles and 968 feet of climbing in the scorching heat.

First home for the club was Dave McGrath in 53mins 12secs in a fine ninth place out of 195.

Chris Whittaker, in his first fell race, came in 29th in 1:00:44 and James Hall was 48th in 1:03:47. Craig Norman, who had raced the day before, clocked 1:05:45.

Andy Haines ran 1:07:49 and Paul Swyers (V50) was right behind him in 1:07:50.

Fiona Lynch (V40), after her epic run in the 61-mile Fellsman the week before, was first woman for the club and seventh woman overall in 1:08:17.

Five members took on a river crossing and were glad of the cool down in the weekend heat when they ran the Yarrow River Bluebell 10k Trail race at Chorley on Sunday.

There was a fine eighth place for Craig Norman on the one lap out and back looped course in the bluebell woodland of the Yarrow Country Park and he clocked 47:13.

Lisa Donnelly, Jen Entwistle, Christine Berry and Katie Benson ran together and approached it as a fun run not knowing what to expect at the river, which they crossed twice with water up to their knees.

Vet-50 Donnelly clocked 1:30:45, as did Benson, while Berry (V50) finished in 1:30:49 and Jen Entwistle 1:30:51.

Karen Doherty ran an event while she was on holiday when she took part in the May Day 10k at Kenilworth outside Stratford-upon-Avon and on a tough hot day she clocked 1:15:00.

In the first of the midweek Hollingworth Lake 5k Series at Littleborough, Chris Whittaker was first 35-year-old and 12th overall in a time of 18:15, winning himself a medal and two pairs of socks.

John Gibbs was next in for the club in 16th place in 18:50, Caroline Malone (V45) ran 26:01 and Debi Warrington, also vet-45, clocked 28:03.

On Saturday Mark Garner ran the three-lap undulating course of the It's A Piece of Cake 10k at Boggart Hole Clough, Manchester.

Taking on Angel Hill he clocked 46:29 in the hot weather and was 49th.

It was a special day for vet-60 Sheila Jones on Saturday when she notched up her 350th 5k parkrun.

At Heaton Park, where most of her parkruns have been, she ran 24:27.
