WALMERSLEY Golf Club is throwing open its fairways and greens to the many women who have thought about playing golf but who, for whatever reason, have never tried it before.
Backed by the English Golf Union, the club is organising a taster session on Sunday between 10am and noon to introduce any interested parties to the game.
This special introduction comprises a two-hour group lesson with a suitably qualified PGA professional. This is followed by soup and sandwiches in the clubhouse and then the opportunity to play a few holes on the course with some of the Walmersley ladies.
Equipment will be provided on the day.
To add to the appeal of the taster session, should anyone be interested in joining the ladies’ section at the club, they will get three months free golf on Tuesdays and Sundays with a member.
At the end of the three-month trial period, membership would be offered subject to paying the pro-rata subscription plus £50, which is half of the normal joining fee.
Walmersley has a reputation for being an extremely friendly club where members can enjoy a full social life on and off the course.
The course boasts commanding views of the Welsh mountains. The current 18-hole layout is soon to benefit from the opening of three additional par four holes.
A free place can be booked by calling Pam Brown on 01204 882622 or e-mailing her on Pam@inwood20.fsnet.co.uk or contacting Siv Walker on 01706 825466.
