RADCLIFFE Athletic Club had a busy week of racing in great weather starting with a midweek event at Haigh Hall in Wigan.

Peter Hunter came home first for the club, 53rd out of 229 runners, in 25:52 on a course just short of four miles.

Not far behind was Chris Paxton is 59th, clocking 26:07secs, while Kris Lee (V40) ran 27:58, John Wrigley 29:04, Zena Knowles (V40) 33:47 and Eileen Royle (V65) 34:15.

The race was part of the Central Lancs Grand Prix.

On the same evening, Rob Lister (V50) took on the Mad Hatter 5 Mile Trail Race in Reddish Vale Country Park, Stockport and on a hilly course ran 40:45.

There were some good performances over the weekend, with Amanda Hey clocking a new personal best of 1:44:00 in the Chester Half Marathon.

She raised money for cancer research along with work colleagues.

Grace Williams, a pupil at Thornleigh College in Bolton, finished second in the 1500m in the annual Salesian Athletic Championships.

Salesian colleges from around the country took part and the Bolton college hosted the event at Leverhulme Park.

On Saturday, four members joined around 100 runners in the 5.7-mile Last Drop Loop Fell Race in Bolton.

The course started from the Last Drop Hotel and included a 787-foot ascent over Turton Moor.

It was the first fell race for Louise Bowden, while Lee Turner, Mauro Rotondi and Kath Davies also ran as was part of the club's fell championship.

Shaun Boult took on a tough challenge when he ran the Montane Trail Half Marathon in the Howgills on the Yorkshire and Cumbria border. Starting and finishing in Sedbergh, including some challenging climbing, he finished the course in 2:25:00.

Peter Hunter was 35th out of 738 running at the Heaton Park parkrun, finishing the 5k course in a time of 20:14. Sheila Jones (V60) ran 23:12.

Rob Lister clocked 22:12 at the Bolton parkrun, leading home Ken Smith (V55) in 22:18 and Mark Wolfenden (V45) in 22:57. Eileen Royle (V65) clocked 27:22 and Caroline Taylor-Smith (V40) finished the course in 36:09.
