THE Lake District was a favourite with Radcliffe Athletic Club runners last weekend.
On Sunday, Fiona Lynch, Sinead Hayes and Susanne Andrew took on the Coniston Trail Marathon, which is billed as the most scenic trail marathon in Britain.
Lynch (V40) was third woman and first in her age group in 4hrs 20mins.
She said: "Brutal doesn't cover how hot it was. It reached 28 degrees and there was no shade. But the organisation was fantastic."
Hayes and Andrew were happy to run together and finished in six hours plus.
Lynch's children Ewan and Niamh earned medals of their own after running in the children's races.
Meanwhile, Ken Smith clocked 53:55 in the Grasmere Gallop 10k.
Three club runners took on the tough local 6.4-mile Edenfield Fell Race with 1,565 feet of climbing.
James Hall was first home in the an event that was part of the club championship, with Chris Paxton and Luigi Salzano around three minutes behind running in together in 1:06:00.
