BURY secured promotion to the Second Division of the Youth Development Track and Field League as champions after winning the final meeting at Litherland on Saturday.

Victory ensured back-to-back promotions for Bury’s brilliant young athletes, who surpassed expectations by winning all four fixtures to Menai into second place.

Once again the team spirit was exceptional with athletes offering to compete in unfamiliar events to maximise points.

The other team members who contributed to the victory included Catherine Russell, Abigail Howard, Lucy Pixton, Erin Kenyon and Lucy Chandler.

Parents also secured important team points by volunteering to help officiate.

Earlier in the week, Bury hosted the third and final of the Mini League fixtures for young athletes.

In the 3.8km open water swim at Pennington Flash he recorded a time of 1hr 31mins 8secs, before climbing on to his bike for the 180km course, which he completed in 7:17:45.
