RADCLIFFE Athletic Club's Tony Holt took on his final event for the club before leaving to live in Australia when he ran the Pilgrim's Cross Fell Race at Holcombe.

Eight other members joined him in the midweek event to say a special goodbye.

The vet-50 had been a member of the club since 1987 and had taken part in many road and fell races over the years, as well as becoming an accomplished triathlon competitor.

He recently retired after 30 years as a fire officer and is leaving the UK to live with his family Down Under.

Over the six-mile course and climbing of 1,100 feet, Holt had his final taste of the changeable British weather with rain and wind and slippery conditions.

He battled through it to clock a time of 56mins 20secs, beating club chairman Chris Paxton by just two seconds.

James Hall was first home for the club in 51:58, followed by Peter Hunter in 54:37 and Kris Lee (V40) in 54:54secs.

Other finishers were: Paul Swyers (V50) 58:22, Katie Percival 1:04:15, Kate Roiston (V40) 1:12:07 and Caroline Mullineaux (V40) 1:14:06.

Three Radcliffe women travelled to Trawden, Pendle for the Boulsworth Fell Race, covering 6.5 miles and climbing 1,000 feet.

First home was Lisa Carter (V45) in 1:11:21, followed by Mullineaux (V40) in 1:14:08 and Sinead Hayes in 1:15:39.
