REILLY Carson produced a stunning run to help Bury's under-11s girls' A team to a silver medal in the Greater Manchester section of the North West Counties Road Relay Championships.

The young athlete produced the fourth best individual time in her race, the best-placed finish of any Bury runner in the event, which was held on the trails of Delamere Forest last Saturday.

The u11s girls’ A team of Carson, Pearl Porter and Esther McGrath were fifth overall.

The B team of Lola Potts, Rosa Murphy and Summer Whitfield were 11th overall and fifth in the regional battle.

Not to be outshone, the boys’ team of Kieran Chadwick, Noah Carter and Cian Donnelly finished ninth overall, second from Greater Manchester.

In the u13s, the girls’ team of Freya Potts, Grace Gibson and Erin Kenyon were 12th overall and fifth in Greater Manchester.

The boys were unable to field a full team, but Gilbert Vaughan and Jay Cook both ran well.

The u15s boys and girls were also unable to find third-leg runners but Francis Woodcock, Oliver Donnelly, Ellie Carter and Heledd Rimmer all put in strong performances.

The senior race was run over a course of just under 7 km, with the men's team of Ben Coop, Jim Ardin, Luke Harreld and Benn Heywood finishing 25th overall and seventh in the Greater Manchester race.

The women were able to field A and B teams. The A team of Katie Buckley, Sophie Whittaker and Katie Geelan were ninth overall and fourth GM team. The B team saw Nicola Harland, Jenny Yates and Lauren Booth all running consistently to take 28th and ninth GM team.
