RADCLIFFE Athletic Club's Neal Emmerson produced a personal best on the fast flat course of the Yorkshire Marathon at the weekend, clocking 2hrs 45mins 10secs to finish 23rd out of more than 3,800 runners.

It was the fourth running of the event, which took part in the historic heart of York.

Mauro Rotondi faced a big challenge on the West Pennine Moors when he ran the 37-mile Three Towers Ultra, which visits Darwen, Rivington and Holcombe Towers.

He finished 28th in a time of 9:19:00.

Tony Holt continues to represent the club with pride Down Under, running the Fremantle Half Marathon in Perth in a time of 1:34:50.

The retired fire officer recently went to live in Australia but has remained a member of Radcliffe AC.

He came home 52nd out of 471 competitors and fourth in the vet-50 age group.

A team of 10 Radcliffe members ran the Gin Pit 5 in Tyldesley on Sunday.

Chris Paxton was first home for the club, clocking 33:27 to claim 52nd place out of 219 finishers.

Rob Lister (vet-50) was only two seconds and one place behind him in 53rd.

Sheila Jones collected yet another vet-60 prize after clocking 40:23. Eileen Royle was first vet-65 in 42:19.

Other Radcliffe finishers: Ian Hopkinson (V40) 44:06, Wayne Holden 46:16, Karen Doherty (V40) 47:57, Iain Harris (V65) 48:39, Andy Wheeler (V60) 48:45 and Jim Rhodes (V75) 1:03:57. 

The women's team finished 10th out of 17 teams.

The event was the last in the Central Lancs Grand Prix and was also part of the club's own trail championship.
