WONDER Woman took to the hills when Radcliffe Athletic Club's Sinead Hayes joined in the festive fun in the Whinberry Naze..

The club athlete earned herself top prize in the fancy dress contest in the popular Rawtenstall fell race on Boxing Day.

To be fair, every one of the 10 Radcliffe members who braved the bitter wind to take to the start line deserved to win a prize.

Chilly conditions did not deter them as they completed the 750 feet of climbing - straight up and straight back down, with a brief stop at the summit to accept a sweet from Santa.

The event was more about enjoying the atmosphere than times and Lisa Carter's Heidi costume certainly caught the eyes of the judges, winning her some food and drink vouchers.

Also running were Ian Warrington, Fiona Lynch, Caroline Mullineaux, Katie Percival, Dave Rushton, Ian Hopkinson, Karen Doherty and Mauro Rotondi.

Away from the fells, Fiona Lynch and husband Peter ran the Ribble Valley 10k, their first race together, and both got personal best times with Fiona clocking 40mins 23secs and Peter 54:00.

In the popular 5k parkruns, "tourist" Vince Ashton (V45) notched up location number 35 at Cannock Chase in Staffordshire, clocking 24:13.

Ian Hopkinson had plenty to be happy about at Worsley Woods after finishing the run in 25:33. When he ran his first one there last February it took him 40 minutes.

At Heaton Park, Michael Kontowtt (V50) came 52nd out of 497 runners in 21:27. Chemane Brier ran 23:57 and Nick Barnes clocked 27:03, while Iain Harris and Lucy Dewhurst came home in 31:26 and 31:34, respectively.

At Bolton, hat-trick of vet 50s Dave Rushton, Mark Wolfenden and Rob Lister produced some sterling times.

Rushton, whose wife Sarah (V45) clocked 29:55, finished in 22:19, followed by Wolfenden in 23:05 and Lister in 23:20.
