RADCLIFFE Athletic Club's Mike Cooke had plenty to be pleased about in the St Annes 10-miler when he came home in 1hr 5mins 52secs, putting him 24th out of 256 runners.

The vet-40 was one of four members to take on the flat, straight course in good conditions at Lytham St Annes on Sunday and came ninth in his age category.

Dave Rushton was 50th in 1:11:23 and Beverley McGrath and Sarah Rushton ran together, finishing 217th and 218th in a time of 1:37:32.

Peter Hunter had tried to get into the 10-mile event but entries were full, so instead opted for The Hunter's 10k at Preston, finishing 42nd out of 306 runners in 40:48.

The day before he ran the parkrun at Heaton Park, finishing 25th over the 5k course in 20:10.

At the Worsley Woods parkrun, Neal Emmerson was second in the 275-strong field in a time of 18:42.

Ian Hopkinson was pleased with his 25:26 – a personal best by seven seconds.

Chris Fletcher was the only other Radcliffe member to run at Heaton Park and clocked 24:01. At Bolton, Dave McGrath was 10th out of 239 in 20:26 and vet-50 Rob Lister ran 22:55.
