RADCLIFFE Athletic Club's Bev McGrath had perfect conditions when she took on the 31-mile Manchester Canalathon on Sunday.

The vet-40 was well pleased with her time of 6hrs 59mins despite some pain and blisters at the end.

The route started at Ancoats in Manchester and ran along the Rochdale Canal to Sowerby Bridge in West Yorkshire.

Scott Baxter and John Andrew joined more than 80 runners in head torches in the midweek Pendle Hill Dark Dash, covering 5.5 miles marked with glow torches from Barley village up to the top of Pendle.

Baxter was 30th and Andrew 35th, finishing in just under an hour.

The event was the first night run on the fell organised by Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue and money raised went to the rescue organisation.

Three runners were on the fells on Saturday for the Boulsworth Bog Fell Race from Wycoller Country Park Hall in Colne.

On an 8.2-mile course with 1,394 feet of climbing, Mauro Rotondi (V40) clocked 1:12:50, Kate Holden (V40) 1:30:35 and Caroline Mullineaux (V40) 1:44:01.

Lee and Sarah Turner ran the Mother's Day 10k at Lancaster with Lee clocking 45:23 to finish 33rd overall and sixth vet-45, while Sarah ran 46:46, finishing 44th overall and first vet-45.

Tony Holt continued his racing success Down Under in the Karri Valley Long Tri, in Western Australia. He finished the 1.5k run, 60k bike ride and 12k trail run in 3:22:00 to earn second place in the vet-55 category.

Lucy Dewhurst took on a tough but scenic Lyme Trust 10k in Cheshire on Sunday, clocking 1:20:00. The event is run every fourth Sunday of the month.
