RADCL IFFE AC had 254 finishers in their multi-terrain 10k with Tommy Harrison from Bolton United Harriers home first in 35mins 40secs.

In glorious weather the event took in the roads, trails and canal paths around Ringley and second in was Bury’s Tony Cullen (V40) in 38:02 with Wesham Road Runner David Taylor third. Vet-50 Rob Jackson of Horwich, who runs all of Radcliffe’s events, was eighth in 39:36.

The first woman, former Radcliffe runner Maria McMyler, now of Horwich Harriers, clocked 45:52. Second was Wesham’s Helen Lawrenson (V45) in 46:16 and third was Natasha Goggin (V40) of Saddleworth Runners in 47:57.

The prizes were presented by club president Tom West and race director Fiona Lynch, whose husband Peter (V40) is the club’s newest member and ran 1:02:10.

The race raised £213.58 for the Maritime Volunteer Services.

Further afield, Sheila Jones entered the Central Park 10k, organised by New York Road Runners and was second vet-60 in 50 minutes on a sunny day.

Four members ran the Rivington 10-Mile Trail Challenge on a tough, hot day with Lee Turner running 1:26:14 and John Andrew 1:36:29. John’s wife Susanne and Bev McGrath both crossed in 2:08:32.

Four members took to the hills in the Wardle Skyline Fell Race in Littleborough. Covering seven miles with 1,250 feet of climbing Dave Rushton was first home in 1:01:00 with Mauro Rotondi clocking 1:03:10, Paul Swyers 1:03:10 and Mark Wolfenden 1:15:52.

In the midweek Curleys 5k Trail Race at Horwich Wayne Holden was 42 seconds quicker than the week before in clocking 31:41. McKenzie Madison ran 35:27 with Bev McGrath clocking 39:20, a second ahead of Caroline Taylor Smith.
