RADCLIFFE Athletic Club's Mauro Rotondi won a silver medal in the L2M race from Liverpool to Manchester.

The first 50 finishers to complete the 50-mile route along the Trans Pennine Trail and the River Mersey took gold, while the second 50 earned silver.

Rotondi was 68th in a time of 9hrs 33mins and was followed home by Radcliffe team-mates Sinead Hayes and Lisa Carter, who finished in 10:11:00 and 10:14:36, respectively.

The women will be running together in May when they take on the 37-mile Old Counties Tops Fell Race in the Lake District, which includes 10,000 feet of climbing.

There was a record turnout for one of the oldest fell races on Saturday when 17 members of the club took part in the 3.2-mile Rivington Pike fell race at Horwich.

The event is part of the Run The Moors Grand Prix, as well as Radcliffe's club championship.

The men's team was seventh. First home was Neal Emmerson, who was 39th in 21:21. Dave McGrath and Chris Paxton recorded the same time of 23:29 and Ian Warrington clocked 23:46.

Sarah Oxley broke her personal best by more than three minutes in the Valiants Half Marathon in Preston, finishing the flat course around the quiet lanes of the Wyre Estuary in 2:07:26. She also ran the Curleys 5k trail race at Horwich in 32:57.

Other Curleys 5k finishers: Ian Hopkinson 28:56, Mckenzie Madison 29:05 and Bev McGrath 31:55.

Hopkinson went on to set a new PB despite battling against a strong wind on the front in the Llandudno Easter 5k, finishing 108th out of 234 runners in 26:21.

In the Salford 10k, Nick Barnes was first Radcliffe runner home in 43:55.

Sarah Rushton got a well-earned personal best of 27:58 at the Hollingworth Lake 5k on Easter Monday.

Husband Dave was the club's first runner home in 20:35.
