BURY Athletic Club recorded their first win in the Cheshire League for a number of years at the latest meeting at East Cheshire stadium in Ashton-under-Lyne.

A squad of 94 athletes took the plaudits under the guidance of new manager Brianne Turner.

For the seniors there were individual victories for Lizzi Cheshire (triple jump 9.86m) and Turner (B javelin 12.31m).

The senior women also won the 4x100m relay (62.7secs) with an impromptu men's team taking third in their race (62.3).

Bury only had two under-17s athletes, but they made their performances count.

Charlotte Larkin was second in the 100m (13.1) and Heledd Rimmer finished third in the javelin (26.81m).

The u15s enjoyed a string of victories. For the boys, Jerel Livingston won the A 200m in 24.9 and the B long jump in 4.29m), while Patrick Clarke took the honours in the C 200m (27.2).

The girls team had four winners. Grace Goodsell claimed victory in the A100m (12.8) and B high jump (1.45m), while Daisy Worthington won the A high jump in 1.50m, the A shot in 8.65m and A 800m in 2:28, Katherine Townsend finished first in the B 100m in 13.7 and Ella Hall had the best throw in the B shot in 8.03m.

Both the boys and girls won their relays.

Daisy Worthington's 1.5om in the high jump was also voted best jump overall of the competition.

Bury fielded a 37-strong team in the u13s.

Well-deserved individual victories went to Jay Cook (A high jump 1.30m and A shot 6.11m), Natan Witkowski (B 200m 29.9 and B high jump 1.25m), Gilbert Vaughan (B shot 5.90m), Jenna Dickinson (B 100m 14.9), Millie Uprichard (C 100m 14.7 and B discus 11.99m) and Grace Gibson (D 100m 15.5 and C 800m 2:42.1). The girls also won the relay in 59.6.

The u11s had individual wins for Finley Collings (A long jump 3.33m), Archie Hall (B long jump 3.22m), Theo Nuttall (B 75m 12.2 and A soft javelin 12.39m), Nyah Coates (A 75 11.5m), Jenna Douglas (B long jump 2.73m), Devonne Samuels (C 75m 12.1), Isabel Lawson (D 75m 12.3) and Lily Crow (B soft javelin 7.26m).

The girls won the relay in 67.4 and their B team finished third in 72.1.

The next fixture is at Salford on Sunday, July 2.

Bury athletes were also among the medals at the Greater Manchester Track and Field Championships at Longford Park in Stretford.

Grace Goodsell scooped four golds, winning the u15s 100m in 12.78, the 200m in 26.36, the high jump in 1.45m and the long jump ion 5.21m. She also won silvers in the high jump and long jump.

Elliott Savage won gold in the u13s boys' 800m (2:17.99), took silver in the long jump and helped the boys' relay team to gold. Twin brother Evan earned bronze in the 800m.

Gold medals also went to Jerel Livingston in the u15s B long jump, Harriet Vaughan in the u17s discus and Katherine Townsend in the u15s discus.

There were also silvers for Vaughan in the pole vault, Howard in the u13s 70m hurdles and Ella Hall in the u15s hammer.

Christie Cook took bronze in the senior women's 800m, while younger brother Jay took bronze in the u13s B high jump and discus.

The u13s girls and u15s girls' B team took bronze in the 4x100m relay, while the u15s boys claimed silver.
