AN understrength Bury side finished fourth out of seven teams in the second meeting of the Youth Development League.

Unseasonal freezing rain made for difficult conditions at the Witton Park track in Blackburn as Bury failed to follow-up on their victory in the season opener.

There were individual victories in the under-15s for Grace Goodsell (100m and long jump) and Daisy Worthington (300m and high jump).

In the u13s, there were wins for Elliot Savage (200m), Evan Savage (800m) and Jerel Livingston (80m hurdles).

The u15s girls' 4x100m squad also secured a victory, with the u13s boys and girls both finishing second in their relays.

A staggering 20 Bury athletes set new personal bests on the day, while a special mention should go to debutants Charlie Ireland and Sam Whelan, who both scored valuable points for the team.

The next meeting will be on Sunday, June 18, when Bury will be hosting the fixture and will hope to make home advantage count.
