RADCLIFFE Athletic Club's Lee Cooper enjoyed a busman's holiday in China, running the Great Wall Marathon in just under six hours,

Cooper took on the endurance-testing challenge, which included 5,164 historic steps, during a family "break".

He finished the quest in 5hrs 53mins 0secs, and said: "It was the hardest race I have ever done.

"The heat touched 40 degrees without any shade, but there were some breathtaking views down to the surrounding valleys and villages."

Neal Emmerson put in a great performance to finish fourth in the Windermere Marathon, completing the course in 2:50:44.

He was lucky with the weather on Sunday morning and knocked nine minutes off the time he did in 2015.

Dave Rushton won two medals at the Snowdonian Half Marathon, which sets off from the village of Llanrwst.

He earned one for completing the tough event in 1:44:51, finishing 35th out of a large field, and a second for running non-stop up the steep Forrest Hill.

Six Radcliffe athletes took on the Crazy Cow 10k at Avenham Park in Preston.

Rob Lister (V50) was first home for the club in 44:15.

Ian Hopkinson (V40) 56:21, Kathryn McPrince 56:37, Sarah Rushton (V45) 59:47, Lucy Dewhurst 1:06:59, and Natalie Hitchen 1:08:57.

In other races, Sarah Oxley clocked 1:10:31 in the White Peak 10k Trail Race in the Peak District, Dave McGrath and John Wrigley ran 36:20 (16th) and 40:37 (40th), respectively, in the Blackstone Edge Fell Race, Mark Emmett (V55) completed the Roger Colson Brownhouse Reservoir 5k Trail Race at Whitworth in a time of 27:36 (21st), and Wayne Holden recorded a time of 47:01 in the Horwich Jubilee Series 5mile.
