IAN Warrington had a busy bank holiday weekend, finishing in the top 10 in the Blackpool Illumination 5k and then beating 200 runners in the Pennington Flash 5 the following day.

The Radcliffe Athletic Club runner was sixth in the Blackpool event on Saturday, finishing the course in the glow of the famous illuminations in 19mins 19secs.

His wife Debs ran the same course, getting under her 35-minute target with 32:29, while McKenzie Madison ran the Illumination 10k, clocking 44:52.

The following day, Warrington was part of a 25-strong club contingent in the five-mile Pennington Flash trail race, which was part of the Central Lancashire Grand Prix.

He was first Radcliffe runner home and 26th overall in a time of 33:26.

Chris Paxton was home second for the club in 27th place in 33mins 43secs and Mark Williams (V50) was third – 38th overall – in 35:07.

On Saturday, Paul Swyers (V50) took to the hills in the Pendleton Fell Race, near Clitheroe, clocking 53:29 on the five-mile course, which includes 1,500 feet of climbing.

Mauro Rotondi took part in the AmAvis 10k road race in Amaseno, Italy, on Sunday. Despite the event taking place in very hot and humid conditions, he completed the course in 46:03.

Kirsten Cook and Karen Doherty took part in the Stan Curran Birthday 5k Cowm Reservoir Race in midweek, finishing in 26:51 and 28:14, respectively.

Parkrun tourist Vince Ashton clocked 25:50 at the the Penrith event – his 44th parkrun location – before running the Lancaster 5k in 24:54.
