DONNA Cartwright posted the best result of the 31 Radcliffe Athletic Club runners who took part in Sunday's Asda Foundation Bury 10k.

She was fourth woman overall and first V40 in 42mins 55secs.

Chris Paxton was the best-placed Radcliffe male, finishing 30th overall and sixth V35 in a personal best time of 39:12.

He improved on his pb by 90 seconds and beat last year's time by 2:30.

Paxton was helped along by club coach Ian Warrington, who had volunteered to set a 40-minute pace for the group.

He said: "I ran the first 4k with Ian and his pacing definitely put me on the path to a pb."

Warrington did a fine job, crossing the line himself in 39:59.

Mike Kontowtt 57th overall and fourth V50 with a pb of 41:07, while Mauro Rotondi was sixth V45 and 79th overall in 42:14, a pb of more than two minutes.

New member Michael Chaloner (42:26) also ran a pb, as did Kate Percival (44:07), who was eighth woman home.

Rob Lister did the Belfast parkrun, finishing 21st in 21:21, as a warm-up for the Belfast Half Marathon, clocking 1:38:05.

Lee Turner took to the hills for the Fat Boys Stanage Struggle Fell Race at Hathersage in the Peak District. He finished the six-mile race, which includes a three-mile climb, ascending 1,165 feet, in 56:17.

Jenny Yates took part in the Northern Vets Track and Field Championships at Bury's Market Street track on Sunday, finishing second in both the F55 800m and 400m.
