RADCLIFFE Athletic Club’s Stu Sharp looks like he is on target for a good run in the Manchester Marathon next month after a personal best time in a half marathon on Sunday.
Sharp finished in 18th place in the Droitwich Half Marathon in Worcestershire, completing the course in one hour 22mins and 26secs.
He is now aiming to run the Manchester Marathon, on Sunday, April 29, in under three hours.
Sheila Jones, Steve Hamer, Dave Bartlett and John Scarlett are also in training for the city’s marathon, which was last run 10 years ago.
Radcliffe AC had nine members competing in the Trotters Five Mile race at Smithills in Bolton on Sunday. Steve Lomax was first home for Radcliffe in the Central Lancs Grand Prix event, finishing 22nd in a time of 32:15. Other finishers included Rob Shiels (33:30), Rob Andrew (35:07), Donna Cartwright (35:45), Mark Emmett (V50 – 40:38), Ross Calvert (41:16), Mark Murphy (V40 – 42:28), Darren Theakstone (43:48) and Joanna Stevens (45:52).
