RADCLIFFE AC’s Anna Lupton blazed her way round the Salford 10k to finish third woman and 75th out of 532 runners.

Lupton, pictured, who usually races in the mountains and has represented England and Great Britain in mountain races in Europe and America, took to the roads to cover the course in 35mins 59secs.

She has twice been the first woman home in the 23-mile North Yorkshire Three Peaks Fell Race and will be going for a third win on Saturday, April 28.

First home was John Andrew in 27:50, followed by Mark Emmett in 30:35. Jim Rhodes and Denise Kay also ran the event together to raise funds for Bolton Crossroads, a charity that provides support for carers. They completed the course in 35:59, raising £500.

Mark Cartwright (V40) was the only Radcliffe member to run the tough 4.5 mile Pendle Fell Race at Barley on Saturday. He finished the race, which covers 1,500ft of steep climbing, in 49:18.

Andy Wheeler took on the adventurous Wolf Run 10k in Leamington Spa. The all-terrain course involves running through woods, wading through ponds and knee deep mud as well as tackling many other obstacles. Andy completed the event in 80 minutes.
