DEFEAT for last week’s leaders of the Bury Billiards League, Elton Liberal Club A, at Walmersley Con Club A leaves them down in joint third place with Tottington Con Club.

Former leaders, Queensway Snooker Club, and last season’s champions, Bury Snooker Club, both won and are now level on top with 20 points. Tottington Con Club won against Walshaw Con A to maintain their challenge. Norman’s Snooker Club took the aggregate points from their match at Elton Liberal Club despite losing the two opening games. At the bottom Walshaw Con Club B defeated Walmersley Con Club B to move off the bottom.

Bury Snooker had another super result as they swept away the opposition from Prestwich Con Club as none of the opponents managed to reach the 100 mark. Queensway Snooker started off slowly against Seedfield Bowling Club, who won the opener, but Queensway won the two remaining games to claim a 4-1 result.

Walshaw Con Club B won only their second match of the season with David Samuels narrowly defeating nephew Darren, while the other nephew, Stuart, lost to Alan Rossbottom, who won for the first time. Brother Brian lost to Ian Street in the final game.
