TENNIS:WALMER'S mixed A team beat Markland Hill B in their opening home fixture of the Bolton Tennis League.
Rick Marley/Gail Blackburn and Phil Mansfield/Mandy Winshkill won 6-4, and Steve Routledge/Lisa Morley, Dave Ferrard/Dianne Hardman each won 6-5.
In the Ladies Section, Morley and Blackburn won 6-3, 6-0, and Winshkill and Hardman scored 0-6, 5-6.
Walmer's victory was ensured as Rick and Phil won 6-0, 6-5 and Dave and Steve won 6-4, 6-, to give a winning margin of 65-45.
Walmer Mixed B travelled to Hawkshaw D and opened strongly with 6-0 wins for Paul Biggins/Pam Leech, and Adam Goody/Fran Biggins.
John Biggins and Jill Ashworth lost narrowly at 6-5, before Brian Richards and Sarah Ormrod won 6-3.
