ATHLETICS: Radcliffe AC women took the honours in the Ravenstones Fell Race from Greenfield, Oldham on Saturday.
Anna Lupton was first woman round the 8.3 mile course in 1hour 19mins 50 seconds, coming 26th overall in a field of 115 runners.
Donna Cartwright came in fourth woman in 1.26.21 and with the help of Anne Marie Rampley (V40), who ran 1.37.30, the women secured first team prize.
There was a good turnout from Radcliffe with ten runners taking part in a race which was part of the Grand Prix competition involving five clubs, Radcliffe, Rossendale, Middleton, Rochdale and Saddleworth. It was also a Radcliffe club championship race.
Meanwhile, Bury AC got off to an encouraging start in the Northern Track League Division 3WC at Preston, with Anthony Ashton, Matt Brown and Carlo Balsarno ran well in the sprints. Luke Herrald won the 800m then finished second in the 1500m.
Scott Evans turned in a superb performance to win from the front in the 5,000m in 15.55.1.
Laura Evans won the 400m hurdles B event as well as the 800m A.
BURY made it two League Two wins out of two with a stunning victory at Saltergate.
BURY fans are in dreamland at Saltergate, with the Shakers going into the half-time break three goals to the good.
