RADCLIFFE Cricket Club held on to second place in Division One of the Bury League after running out 6-4 victors at Carlton Club A in a tightly-fought contest.

Graham Jeffries starred for Radcliffe, winning all three.

Little Lever remain a place behind Radcliffe after a convincing 9-1 win at home to Prestwich B.

Steve McNicholas, Phil Riley and Ronnie Durose all scored trebles for the home side.

Prestwich A are just outside the top three after edging a close match with their C team 6-4. Lee Devenport was the only unbeaten player, claiming all three for the losing side.

Burning Desire won with a 10-0 whitewash at St Philip’s – Andy Kaye, Ben Armstrong and Steve Barber were the unbeaten players.

Despite struggling in the Division Two relegation zone, Prestwich E pushed promotion candidates Maccabi A all the way, eventually losing out 6-4.

Carlton Club B beat bottom side Holmar A 7-3 at home, with Mark Reading starring for Carlton.

ELPM A scored an important win against second-placed Seedfield A, winning 6-4 at home. David Poytress was in fine form for the visitors, finishing as the only unbeaten player.

Polish Catholic Club beat Carlton Vale 8-2. Eddie Kalinowski and Ian Byrne won all three for Polish.

Elton Vale A came from behind to draw at home to Prestwich D, winning the last two sets of the night.

In Division Three, Hilton YMCA cemented their position at the top of the table with a 9-1 win at home to Shawfield B. Alan Cowley and Rob Bent were unbeaten for Hilton.

Second-placed Seedfield B kept up the pressure on Hilton with a 7-3 win at home against an under-strength ELPM B side. Steve Greaves was unbeaten for third-placed ELPM.

Elton Vale Sports Club B drew at home with Maccabi C. Jim Bollard won a treble for the home side.

Ramsbottom Town B beat bottom side Seedfield C 8-2 at home. Martin Ormsby and Joe Walk were unbeaten for Ramsbottom.

Maccabi B won 7-3 at home to Carlton Club C.

In Division Four, promotion certainties Prestwich F beat their G team 10-0, with the usual trio of Paul Rourke, Alistair Wakefield and Rod Hughes completing the routine victory.

Second-placed Shawfield C also recorded a whitewash over under-strength Holmar B at home. Ashley Ingham, Peter Gregory and Andrew Webster were the unbeaten Shawfield players.

Shawfield D won 6-4 at Maccabi E. Reserve player James Collier, who moved up a division for Shawfield, enjoyed three fine wins.

Ramsbottom TT Academy A had a good win at Holmar C, the juniors edging out the home side 6-4.

Maccabi F drew at home to Bury Grammar School Old Boys A, who had a trebble from Barry Warburton to thank for the point.

In Division Five, Seedfield Methodists D beat Holmar E 7-3. Mike Ollerton had three wins for Seedfield.

Shawfield G drew with their F team, Joshua Fallows leading the way for the juniors with a treble.

Ramsbottom TT Academy B were also locked in a stalemate with Wardle Conservative Club, who did well with only two players. David Watts won his customary three for Wardle.

Holmar D beat Maccabi G 6-4 at home, while ELPM D trounced Seedfield E 10-0.
