WEARY FC United's title hopes were all but extinguished after they slumped to their second defeat in three days at Wakefield.
The Rebels, who travel to promotion rivals Bradford Park Avenue tonight, have now gone four games without a win as their hectic schedule finally caught up with them.
In their third game in five days, the visitors found themselves 2-0 down before Simon Carden handed them a 78th-minute lifeline.
But promotion rivals Wakefield restored their advantage with two minutes left and, despite captain Dave Chadwick pulling a goal back, FC are now anxiously looking over their shoulder as they cling to the final play-off spot.
Radcliffe Borough lifted themselves off the bottom of the table for the first time this season with a 1-0 victory over fellow strugglers Woodley Sports.
Striker Steve Howson's 26th-minute penalty - his 34th of the season - sealed the points at Stainton Park.
