JOE Widdowson is expected to be unveiled as a Bury player later this week.
It is understood the 25-year-old left-back is waiting to complete the paperwork on his Shakers move, but was included in the club’s official team photo shoot today.
The former Rochdale defender, who played under Bury boss David Flitcroft at Spotland, has spent the last two seasons at Northampton, making 64 appearances before being released in the summer.
Flitcroft had hinted Widdowson and fellow trialist Peter Sweeney were considering other offers after the pair failed to feature in either of Bury’s pre-season friendlies since returning from a training camp in Tenerife.
But while former Shaker Sweeney now looks unlikely to return to the club, it seems Widdowson has done enough to earn a deal.
