A KEVIN Ellison tap-in 20 minutes from time condemned Bury to their fourth defeat in five away games.

The big Shrimps striker made no mistake after new Shakers stopper Scott Loach palmed out a shot from substitute Jack Redshaw straight into his path.

It was tough on David Flitcroft’s Bury side, whose disciplined performance had looked like earning them a point before their late collapse.

The Shakers reverted to four at the back, with Chris Hussey making a return at left back, while Danny Mayor and Nicky Adams supported lone front man Danny Rose.

Bury’s more defensive formation reduced the chances at both ends in the first hour of the game, but it opened up after Flitcroft threw on a second striker.

Danny Nardiello’s introduction failed to have the positive impact he would have hoped for. Instead it was another sub, Redshaw, who changed the game.

After his shot was parried for Ellison to score, Morecambe could have had a few more, picking Bury off as they chased the game.

Ellison had the majority of the chances, dragging one effort wide when unmarked in the Bury box before having a shot blocked by Loach.

The Bury backline also put in a succession of blocks to keep the score down, but could not create a clear opening of their own as they extended their poor record on the road to just one point from a possible 15 in recent weeks.
