DANNY Nardiello scrambled home an equaliser in the second minute of stoppage time to put Bury into the hat for the FA Cup third round draw.

Goalkeeper Rob Lainton, who handed Luton their 51st-minute opener on a plate with a terrible mistake, went up for a Chris Hussey corner.

And he created enough of a distraction to help keep the ball in the box and, after a mad scramble of Bury bodies tried to turn the ball home, Nardiello was on hand to apply the finish.

It was all Bury deserved after dominating possession and territory, although they failed to create many clear-cut opportunities.

It looked like former Shakers striker Mark Cullen had condemned his former club to a fifth consecutive defeat after capitalising on Lainton’s clanger.

The diminutive forward stabbed the ball in from a yard out after a tame Scott Griffiths shot somehow wriggled under Lainton at his near post.

Ricky Miller also hit the post late on for Luton as Bury chased the game.

Up until the late drama, Everton loanee Hallam Hope had the only real chance of note for the home side, chipping over after being slipped in behind the Luton defence by a clever pass from man-of-the-match Danny Mayor.

But Nardiello, who came off the bench with seven minutes remaining, finally made Bury pressure count, converting their 17th corner to keep their cup dreams alive.

The two teams are now pencilled in to replay at Kenilworth Roard on Tuesday, December 16.
