DAVID Flitcroft took plenty of positives from Saturday's draw at home to Swindon, despite letting a two-goal lead slip against last season's play-off finalists.

Here is a transcript of his views taken from the post-match press conference.

Flitcroft on Tom Pope's opener

"The quality of ball from Riles (Joe Riley) was exquisite and when he climbs and hangs he’s very difficult to defend against," he said.

"When you see that quality come in there is a real desire from Tom to get in there and Popey is one of those players who will get that type of goal because he is dangerous from that point of attack."

Flitcroft on the turning point

"The substitutions have given them an impetus," he admitted, after confirming he was forced to take off Kelvin Etuhu and Danny Mayor due to injury concerns.

"They have given them a way into the game, to start overloading us in possession and in central areas of the pitch.

"With 20 minutes to go, against a team as good as Swindon, it’s tough defending a lead."

Flitcroft on his side's first-half blitz

"We worked on a gameplan to get about a very talented team and we did that," he said.

"We were in their faces, we were up close and personal and we were very bright when we won the ball.

"But you have got to put this (Swindon) team to the sword because they showed moments of quality, which you saw with the second goal."

Flitcroft on Swindon's late equaliser

"It wasn’t a free kick, that’s a fact," he said.

"We’ve seen it. Hallam Hope wins the ball. We’ve got our big wall up but the free kick is stunning. It’s pinpoint, it’s hit the stanchion and is one of those things, it’s a moment of high quality."

Flitcroft takes the positives

"While there is a lot of threat in the Swindon team, we nullified them for large parts of the game," he said.

"Swindon Town have come to our ground and got two shots on target and scored two goals.

"But I have got to draw positives from my team’s performance and the energy inside the stadium, the fans showed an incredible vigour for Bury Football Club."
