BURY captain Nathan Cameron wants to reward the travelling fans' loyalty with an FA Cup victory over Bradford at Gigg Lane this weekend.

The Shakers have not played at home since a 1-0 victory over Chesterfield on December 12, with their last scheduled game at Gigg Lane against Barnsley on Boxing Day called off due to flooding in and around the ground.

Since their win against the Spireites, David Flitcroft's men have lost at Southend, Port Vale and Fleetwood, where 804 Bury fans made the trip to see their seventh straight league defeat away from home.

As attention turns from League One to the FA Cup, Cameron insists the squad have the togetherness to battle their way back into form and book their place in the fourth-round draw.

“It was another disappointing defeat,” he said of Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Fleetwood. “We are struggling on the road at the minute but we have to stay together as a group.

“The support from the fans was brilliant again and it is just disappointing when they turn out in their numbers like that (and we lose).

“Getting beat does knock your confidence.

"As a team I think we are struggling, especially away from home.

"At home I think, when the crowd gets behind us, we can really kick on and take the game to teams.

“It was another disappointing defeat but we have to kick on now. We have a massive game in the FA Cup."

Bury's current bad run away from home started at Bradford in October, when Phil Parkinson's men inflicted their first defeat on their travels in nine months.

“Bradford are a decent team and they have beaten us already this season in the league so we need to take our A game," added the 24-year-old skipper.

“It's another big game for us and one we have to win.

"We will take our attention away from the league and focus on the cup, which we have done well this season.

"The fans expect us to win the game at home so that's what we need to do.

“Our home form has been decent. We have beaten some really good teams and Bradford will hopefully be another one.”

Cameron has only missed one game this season, a home win against Blackpool, and has built a formidable partnership with Peter Clarke in the heart of the defence.

But as injuries have taken their toll on the first team, younger players such as Anthony Dudley and Scott Burgess have been thrust into the thick of things, and the club captain was pleased to see them make the step up against Fleetwood.

“We have some good young players who came in, the likes of Duds and Burgs, who did fantastic considering they have only had a few first-team games, but they were brilliant for us.

“They have been brilliant around the place. They give us fresh energy, which we need.

"They showed no fear and played really well.”
