IN-FORM Bury striker James Vaughan has been voted in the SkyBet League One team of the season.
The 28-year-old front man has been a revelation since signing for the Shakers on a free transfer in August, scoring 21 goals in 34 appearances so far.
Vaughan, who started his career at Everton but has been blighted by injuries, has got stronger as the season has progressed, netting 11 times in his last 11 matches, including a four-goal burst against Peterborough.
Bury certainly seem to have got the best out of a striker who failed to find the net in 20 appearances for Birmingham City and Huddersfield last season.
It is the first time he has ever scored more than 20 goals in a season and, with seven games remaining, he looks set to make more appearances than he has ever done in a single campaign, with his previous best of 37 coming at Huddersfield in 2012/13.
Alongside Oldham keeper Connor Ripley, he is one of only two players picked in the team in a side currently in the bottom half of the table.
The best XI has been picked by local media representatives from all League One clubs.
League One team of the year: Ripley (Oldham); McLaughlin (Fleetwood), Wheater (Wanderers), Beevers (Wanderers), Meredith (Bradford); Fleck (Sheffield United), Oztumer (Walsall), Morris (Scunthorpe); Gregory (Millwall), Sharp (Sheffield United), Vaughan (Bury). Manager: Uwe Rosler (Fleetwood).
