ALEX Bruce took to Twitter last night to clear up confusion over his departure from Bury.

Fans confused by the sudden departure of summer signing Adam Thompson to Bradford on loan assumed Bruce had become the second player in as many hours to be let go after only playing a handful of games.

Bury had made it clear in their statement that he had only joined the club on non-contract terms, playing in defeats to Wigan and Bristol Rovers, but Bruce felt that was not made clear by the national media when reporting his departure.

The ex-Hull defender, who has been searching for a new club all summer after being released by the Tigers, said in a statement: "Just to clear up the slight inaccuracy as reported by Sky Sports News that I have been released from Bury Football Club,

"I accepted the kind offer from (manager) Lee Clark and (his assistant) Alan Thompson, who I have known for a long time, to train with the first-team squad in order to maintain my fitness.

"At no point did I enter into a contract with the club.

"While training at Bury they asked me if I'd play in a couple of games on non-contract terms to do them a favour as they received an injury to their midfield player Stephen Dawson against Sunderland.

"This suited both parties as I needed some match fitness.

"The non-contract has now been terminated, as planned, before the window closes, enabling me to continue to negotiate with other clubs."

Bury manager Lee Clark yesterday confirmed he was working on up to a dozen deals - both ins and outs - which he hoped to get done before the transfer window closes tonight.

As well as Thompson's shock loan switch to League One rivals Bradford, Bury also yesterday announced the loan signing of Bournemouth winger Mihai Dobre.

That could mean up to another 10 deals to be confirmed today, although Clark admitted they were all up in the air and the majority may not come off.

He also confirmed he hoped to ship out more players than he intends to bring in.
