Bury's struggles continued on Tuesday when they suffered a 3-0 defeat to Rotherham United at Gigg Lane.
The loss left them five points adrift at the bottom of League One and slip nine from safety as the three teams immediately above them were all defeated too.
Chris Lucketti's men got off to a dreadful start when they conceded two goals in the first 10 minutes from David Ball and Lee Frecklington with Will Vaulks compounding the home side's misery with the third seven minutes from time.
It was a third straight league defeat for the Shakers and a fourth in succession in which they have failed to score.
