BURY have confirmed Chris Lucketti has been sacked as manager after less than two months in charge.

The former Gigg Lane defender leaves with his assistant Joe Parkinson after winning just one of his 10 games in charge and with the Shakers 12 points from safety at the bottom of League One.

He was appointed on November 22 but has failed to inspire the reaction Bury chairman Stewart Day had been hoping for.

Lucketti's one victory came against Walsall in the Football League Trophy and a 1-0 home defeat to Charlton Athletic was the Shakers' eighth in succession, seven of which were in the league.

With the club staring ominously at relegation, Ryan Lowe and Ryan Kidd have been put in charge until the end of the season.

A statement released by the club this morning read: “Following a run of very disappointing performances and results, the Board have decided to terminate the contracts of Manager Chris Lucketti and Assistant Manager Joe Parkinson with immediate effect.

“The desire to keep the Club in League One is paramount and with 57 points still to play for the Board feel that this is still achievable.

“Ryan Lowe and Ryan Kidd will take charge of the First Team until the end of the season.

The board would like to thank Chris and Joe for their hard work and wish them well in the future.”
