Ramsbottom United’s inaugural season at Evo-Stik Premier level begins on Saturday with the visit of Kings Lynn Town to the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium.

Having retained 15 of last season’s successful promotion squad, joint managers Bernard Morley and Anthony Johnson have put the finishing touches to this season’s line-up by bringing in five new players to replace the departed Owen Roberts, Darren Green and Danny Warrender.

Coming in is 20-year-old former Droylsden central midfielder Malachi Slaven, 23-year-old attacking midfielder Osebi Abadaki, 21-year-old forward Sam Cook from Shepshed Dynamo and talented youngster Porya Ahmadi.

Johnson said: “Ahmadi’s a pacey skilful 21-year-old centre-forward who began his career at Sheffield United. He’s since been with Chorley and Salford City and he’ll prove a handful for opposing defences.”

Completing the list of newcomers is Tom Williams, a winger signed from Bamber Bridge.

Johnson is happy with the 20-man squad the club has assembled.

“We feel this is stronger than last season, and are looking forward to the challenge, beginning with the visit of Kings Lynn Town on Saturday,” he said.
