Elton Vale recorded a narrow victory against Springhead by two goals to one in the Manchester Football League Premier Division.
Vale came flying out of the blocks to take the lead inside three minutes as Richard Young found space in the box to firmly nod home a Shaun Carey corner.
Springhead hit back instantly as a thunderous drive beat goalkeeper Mark Clapham down to his left.
The winning goal came on the hour mark as Stephen Simms’ cross was headed in by Ryan Standring.
Elton Vale’s reserves were involved in an eight-goal thriller against Rochdale Sacred Heart which ended 4-4. Danny Burke and Jamie Newton both bagged a brace.
