WALSHAW bowed out of the Lancashire FA Shield at the first hurdle following a 3-1 defeat at Coppull United.
The home side gained the upper hand midway through the first half.
A floated cross was not dealt with and Coppull’s striker headed the hosts into the lead.
A controversial free-kick to the home side in the second half saw Lee Chapman handle in the box.
The resulting spot-kick was dispatched and Chapman was sent off for his second bookable offence.
Coppull soon added a third before Ryan Leeming was upended in the box and Chris Taylor netted a consolation for Walshaw.
Elton Vale also crashed out of the shield with a crushing 4-0 home defeat to Charnock Richard.
Burrows gave the visitors the lead on 30 minutes and Vale were unlucky not to equalise shortly after when the Charnock keeper saved well with his feet to deny Gardiner.
Elton were dealt a killer blow 10 minutes into the second period as Sanderson scored for Charnock.
Gardiner had a shot saved by keeper Bates but as Vale pushed forward they were caught on the break with late goals from Bennett and Bibby.
