HAVING taken the lead and more than matched the league leaders, Vale were undone by the dismissal of substitute Anthony Kenyon on the hour mark after a second booking following two reckless tackles.
Vale, with a new look five-man midfield dominating the early exchanges, came close to taking the lead when Marvin Browne won a 50-50 and fed Jack Barlow.
The ball was threaded through to Gareth Gardiner and his chipped effort cannoned back of the crossbar.
The hosts took the lead on 25 minutes when a delightfully struck corner was met by Browne who nodded home from close range.
Wythenshawe responded positively and scrambled home an untidy goal to level the score before half time.
The Amateurs grew in confidence in the second half and a second goal and a controversial late penalty secured victory.
