RAMSBOTTOM United’s Joel Pilkington has announced his retirement from the game at the age of 30.
The midfielder, who made 235 appearances for the club, enjoyed six seasons at the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium and played an integral part in the Evo-Stik Premier Division side’s recent success, scoring 18 goals.
The Accrington-born star became co-managers Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley first ever signing when he joined the Rams in 2009/10 from North West Counties League side Runcorn Linnets. He also had spells at Burnley, Hyde United, Mossley, Chorley and Clitheroe.
Johnson said: “Pilky is an absolute legend. He is so resilient, so committed, always puts his body on the line. He will be massively missed.”
