BURY GSOB’s winning run came to an end as they were held to a 2-2 draw away to Chaddertonians in the Lancashire Amateur League Premier Division.

They started Saturday’s game slowly and paid the price early on as the hosts took the lead inside 10 minutes.

Just as in their 2-1 victory last week against Mostonians, Bury bounced back to play with more intensity up the pitch and equalised through Spencer Woods.

Liam Donnelly’s through ball found Woods inside the box and he side-footed into the corner.

The visitors then took the lead from the penalty spot, captain Simon Curtis making no mistake to give the Old Boys a half-time advantage.

For most of the second half Bury were seemingly in control against a side three points below them in the table, but a number of chances went begging.

And Chaddertonians were awarded a penalty of their own midway through the half, albeit fortuitously.

Curtis was adjudged to have handled the ball inside the area and their striker duly converted the spot-kick to earn a share of the spoils and keep the Old Boys ninth in the table.

Bury were set to play Bolton United last night in the LFA Cup semi-finals before hosting Rochdale St Clements in the league on Saturday.
