FC United will contest the Evo-Stik League Premier Division play-off semi-final against Chorley at their Victory Park ground on Saturday, kick off 3pm.
The Rebel Reds finished sixth in the league – one place outside the play-off places – but have qualified because second-placed Northwich Victoria were disqualified by an FA disciplinary hearing, which met at Wembley yesterday.
Northwich, who are in administration, have also been relegated to Division One North next season.
Ironically, FC United beat Northwich Victoria 4-1 at home on Saturday in the final match of the regular season, with goals from Jake Cottrell, Stephen Johnson and two from Matthew Wolfenden sealing the victory.
It looked like the win would not be enough to seal a play-off place after Hednesford scraped into fifth by a point following a 0-0 draw at Worksop.
Hednesford will now travel to Bradford Park Avenue in the other play-off semi-final.
